The Differences Between the 2017 Mercedes-Benz SL and SLC Models
Nothing is more exciting than a speedy, beautiful, and luxurious Mercedes-Benz roadster. Nothing. This one of a kind car, the 2017 Mercedes-Benz SL, is in a class all its own, is offers phenomenal performance and features beneath its marvelously sculpted exterior. Fortunately for us, there are two outstanding 2017 SL models to choose from. Let’s take a moment to look at some of the pros and cons between the various differences between the 2017 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class models so that you can choose the one that suits you best. Mercedes-Benz Roadsters represent a tradition that goes back for over half a century, and there’s no sign that it will come to an end anytime soon. The stylish bodywork inspires motorists of every stripe and their muscular engines speak the universal language of horsepower. They come in two varieties, and when buying, fans of the brand want to know, between the 2017 SLC and SL Classes, which car offers better value.
The SLC and SL Classes may look quite similar, but the most important difference is the SLC is smaller and does not come as an AMG® 63 or 65 model. That is where the SL Class emerges from the woodwork to take its place as, what some consider to be, a superior product. The 2017 SL Class can include an impressive 621 horsepower, and a 0 – 60 acceleration time of just 3.9 seconds. The SLC, however, is limited to a maximum horsepower rating of 362. Still, nothing to sneeze at, but it is, comparatively, lacking appeal for performance fans. The Mercedes SLC can achieve 60 mph from zero in 4.6 seconds due to its larger size. But it is arguably, the more practical and economical of the two.
Mercedes-Benz SL vs Mercedes SLC
Both the SLC and the SL are the brand’s newest offerings for the 2017 lineup. Both cars are packing the same engine, with some important differences. Naturally, the 3.0L in the SLC comes hand-crafted by a certified AMG® engineer. This gives the SLC a noticeable advantage in the area of reliability and longevity, but both deliver about the same amount of power. Both feature an automatic 9-speed transmission. Both cars stand about 51 inches above the ground.
Two of the most significant differences between them is their disparate lengths from bumper to bumper, and their features. The SL is about one and a half feet longer than the SLC, with more room and better stability, but not more performance, necessarily. The SLC comes standard with feature Mercedes-Benz offers. The SL, conversely comes with a long list of optional equipment. That said- the average Mercedes roadster aficionado will gravitate toward the SLC. You get more performance at a smaller price, better efficiency, and a lot more features. If price is not an inhibiting factor, however, the Mercedes SL is the clear choice.
